Cheriton 375

July 27, 2019 - July 28, 2019

Cheriton is one of the major battles of the English Civil War. 375 years on from the original battle, we’ll be bringing the sight and sounds of the conflict to life.

The viewing activities will centre on a series of re-enactments demonstrating the development of Warfare through the ages from medieval knights to American Civil War Yankees and Rebels. The military viewing activities will comprise three principle elements:

  • A series of Living History camps which you can tour, view and engage re-enactors to see, feel and experience life in the Middle Ages, the seventeenth Century (Civil War) and the eighteenth Century (Napoleonic and ACW Periods)
  • Arena displays, throughout the day with drill displays and skirmishes in the main arena
  • Battle re-enactments

The centrepiece of the day is large scale re-creation of the Battle of Cheriton by The Sealed Knot, Cheriton was a key battle in the English Civil Wars and was fought 375 years ago. The re-enactment is taking place on the original battlefield!

There will also be:

  • Have-a-go Archery (with the Alton and Fourmarks Archery Club)
  • Charity craft stalls – Naomi House, Royal British Legion, Help for Heroes etc

The site will offer a selection of food and drink outlets, being provided by professional event caterers and an excellent beer tent selling alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.
