Nantwich

January 27, 2018

For over 40 years the faithful troops of The Sealed Knot have gathered in the historic town of Nantwich, Cheshire, to re-enact the bloody battle that took place almost 400 years ago and marked the end of the long and painful siege of the town.

This year’s parade and battle will take place on Saturday 27th January 2018.

Nantwich has been a staple of the reenactment calendar for more than four decades and thousands turn out every year to watch us mark this pivotal moment in the town’s history – from the impressive sight of hundreds of troops marching through the town to the sounds of battle, come rain or shine this is an event that should always be part of your calendar!

The day will begin at 10am with activities run by Nantwich Museum including Civil War tours and musketry demonstrations, as well as relevant exhibitions in the galleries.

In Nantwich town square, community organisation Redshift will be running a stage with live music and entertainment. There will be tours of St Mary’s Church, book signings, horses parading, Domesday Morris Dancers, street entertainers and hog roast.

At 1.30pm, Sealed Knot troops will gather in the square to lay wreaths.

Then at 1.50pm, they will march down Mill Street to Mill Island where the battle re-enactment will take place from 2pm.
